Analysis Options for Building Materials
In-Line Moisture Analysis of Building Materials
Gypsum, cement, brick, sand, and lime are just some of the many types of building materials that undergo a complex manufacturing process, where the control of moisture directly affects their quality. Since these materials are often produced in high volumes, incorporating instrumentation to measure moisture on a production line can help processors maintain quality and efficiency. KPM provides NIR and RF dielectric measurement technologies to assist manufacturers with quality and process control during manufacturing of building materials.
NIR and RF Moisture Monitoring
KPM provides multiple product options to the building materials industry for moisture analysis and control of raw materials, boards, lumber and wood products, bricks, cement, and much more. The sensors can be mounted in between rollers on the conveyor in an array fashion or over the line in multiple locations, helping operations improve and maintain quality while conserving energy, reducing waste, increasing capacity, and generating revenue.
What's Analyzed
What's Analyzed
Moisture is measured in many of the raw materials and finished materials used in the building industry to ensure process-ability and to minimize energy consumption costs. Depending on the product or the constituent, analysis can be performed in-process over the line with NIR sensors, in an array across the line with RF sensors (e.g. between rollers), or on samples tested at-line with a benchtop NIR analyzer.
Some of the materials and items that can be measured are:
- OSB, MDF, and Particleboard
- Raw Gypsum
- Drywall/Gypsum Board
- Cement Board
- Veneers
- Brick Raw Materials
- Sand
- Ceramics
- Crumb Rubber
- PVC Powder
