Application

Quality Control During Oilseed Processing

Quality control in an oilseed crushing plant using NIR (near-infrared) spectrometers involves the use of a non-destructive analytical technique to measure the chemical composition of the oilseeds. With the help of KPM, oilseed crushing plants have access to accurate and timely analytical values which can help control their process, save money, and improve yield.

Moisture and Compositional Analysis

Moisture and Compositional Analysis

NIR technology has many applications in an oilseed processing plant, where rapid analytical results lead to increased efficiency and cost savings. Examples include: optimizing the oil extraction process, meal analysis, and laboratory quality control cost.

Nutrient Analysis of Soil Extracts

Oilseeds including soybean, canola, peanuts, rapeseed, and sunflower grown in various regions around the world and require consistent moisture and sun to flourish. Fertilizers are commonly used to help provide a boost of nutrients to improve yields. For both economic and environmental reasons, it is important for oilseed growers to manage soil quality.

What's Analyzed

Parameter Why It's Analyzed
Nitrogen-Based Nutrients (Ammonia, Urea, TKN, Nitrate, Nitrite) Nitrogen is an important nutrient for all oilseeds. However, too much Nitrogen in the soil can be harmful to the groundwater. Urea and TKN content also have a role in animal feed quality.
Phosphorus-Based Nutrients (TP, o-Phosphate, Phosphate) Phosphorus is applied to the soil via fertilizer throughout the growing season but is especially important during the early season to help develop strong roots.
Potassium Potassium may need to be added via fertilizer at different stages of the growing season.
Other Compounds in Crop Production Boron, copper, iron, manganese, zinc, and other minerals all have a role in crop production.
